On Thursday 17 March 2016 Year 7 at LNS learned of a potential extraterrestrial landing outside their Sports Hall. Over the course of the next two days they investigated the wreckage using strict sampling methods and powerful analytical techniques such as chromatography, microscopy, spatter analysis, visible light spectroscopy and simple gas tests. They learned the potential origins of the craft using literature research and updates from the caretaker and, of course, a special contact at the UK Space Agency.
Live blogs from the investigation and some scene set up and student reviews can be found here, stored to help us remember what was a fantastic day of science and adventure. Of course, if you’re a visiting teacher the necessary resources have been saved here too. We’d love for you to use them.
